Where do i even start? I was 19 at the time, i had a good job.. i was working hard and making money, i graduated high school and was about to be going to college part time for EMT.. It was always one of my dreams to become a Emergency Medical Technician. So here i was going to my orientation for the class, everything was going so great for me.. i didn't notice that i was sick, the only thing i noticed is that i stayed tired alllllll the time... i would go to bed and wake up with plenty of rest and still be so tired but couldn't do anything about it. The doctors kept saying that it was coming from my thyroid but i knew it was something different than that. A couple months went by and i was getting ready to start my journey into the EMT world.. i had everything ready to go to college, i was so excited. Then one day i woke up and i coudnt see barely anything out of my left eye. So i immediately made an eye doctors appt.
it was about a week before they could fit me in.. it seemed like everyday my vision would get worse and worse.. I finally made it in and the doctor did all kinds of tests on my eye.. it turned out i had optic neuritis. So he sent me home and said that sometimes problems like these resolve on their own. A couple months went by and my eye did the same thing again... so i went back into the eye doctor, he didnt treat me, he sent me straight on the the eye specialist in a bigger city. Again when i got there i had several other tests run and she informed me i had optic neuritis again.. she didnt treat me either, sent me home and said if i had any other problems to come back. my eye got better off and on again.. months went by and i couldnt see anything at all out of my eye, at this point i was freaking out thinking that i would forever be blind in that eye, (its a scary feeling) so off i go back to the eye doctor, she immediately sends me to a huge hospital for an emergency mri and spinal tap.. i was so scared but trying to stay strong. i went in and waited for it seemed like hours for the mri. they immediately did the spinal tap and it was my first ever one, i was a nervous wreck, i felt like there was a car sitting on my back from the pressure those things put on you but im alive now! :) it took them forever to do the spinal because they couldnt get my fluid to come out.. so i waited 2 days on an MRI and they finally came to get me at 3 am, they had to give me something for my nerves because i am very claustrophobic and have very bad anxiety attacks. so i made it through the MRI, later that morning a nuerologist came in, she was very nice and caring, and she got her phone out and was explaining to me that all my test came back and it was positive for MS. I had no clue what that was and was very confused.. she showed me pictures of the lesions on my brain.. and explained.( i forgot to mention i had IV steroids for my eye while i was there) so i left the next day and researched everything.. I still to this day dont know all there is to know about MS and that has been a year and a half ago. I am 20 now about to be 21.
